Adobe FrameMaker has long been the authoring tool of choice for many technical authors. Its template-based authoring environment offers unparalleled options for publishing long documents reliably and consistently throughout your organisation.

For newcomers to FrameMaker who are going to be working in standard (unstructured mode), we offer:

Introduction to Adobe FrameMaker training (2 days)

Provides newcomers with a thorough grounding in standard FrameMaker (unstructured mode), teaching how to use the powerful page layout and text features to generate printed documentation of a high standard. Sessions cover master pages, graphics, tables and FrameMaker's document revision features.

This course is ideal for newcomers to FrameMaker, and those with limited Framemaker experience. At the end of the course, will be able to confidently create and modify FrameMaker documents.

FrameMaker version: Training is currently based on FrameMaker , as contained in Adobe Technical Communication Suite . The techniques taught are relevant to other recent versions of FrameMaker.

Prerequisites: No prior Framemaker knowledge is necessary.

FrameMaker template creation training (2 days)

Teaches everything you need to be able to:

create and maintain FrameMaker templates;

build and maintain multi-chapter books;

Incorporate cross-references, table of contents, index and variables.

Prerequisites: Delegates should be familiar with the techniques taught in our Introduction to Adobe FrameMaker course, in particular character formatting, paragraphs, the table designer and master pages.

Authoring structured FrameMaker documents training (2 days)

Covers the fundamentals of using of FrameMaker in structured mode, teaching how to create and edit documents using structured FrameMaker templates. At the end of the course you will feel confident with the structured authoring environment, and the steps required to produce a valid document instance prior to export to SGML or XML.

The course is also beneficial for template designers and application developers who need a working knowledge of the structured authoring environment.

Teaches how to:

build an Element Definition Document

link elements using formatting rules to a FrameMaker template

convert legacy data to a Structured FrameMaker file using a conversion table.

This course is ideal for anyone who needs to define the elements and attributes to be permitted in their structured FrameMaker documents.

Formatting structured documents in FrameMaker (3 days)

Covers the basics of formatting FrameMaker structured documents. It introduces the concept of a template and explains how to create new templates and use existing templates.

This course is ideal for application developers and end-users responsible for defining templates and formatting rules for structured documents.

Prerequisites: Attendance on our Authoring structured FrameMaker documents course, or equivalent experience.

This course is available on-request only, i.e. one-to-one training or a course for your group at one of our venues in Birmingham/Bromsgrove, Reading, Newbury, Milton Keynes or Sheffield, or yours anywhere in the UK. Training can be based on any recent version of FrameMaker. Scheduled (public) courses are not available.

Importing and exporting SGML/XML structured data (2 days)

Covers the importing of SGML/XML documents into FrameMaker, and the exporting of structured FrameMaker documents to SGML/XML.

At the end of the course you will be able to:

edit the FrameMaker application file

create your own applications

create and update an EDD from a DTD, and vice versa.

This course is ideal for application developers responsible for setting up the process of moving documents between SGML/XML and FrameMaker.

Prerequisites: Attendance on our Authoring structured FrameMaker documents, Formatting structured documents in FrameMaker and Creating EDDs courses, or equivalent experience.

FrameMaker XML workshop (4 days)

Provides a broad understanding of the process for developing a structured application to process XML documents, backed up by hands-on experience.

This workshop is ideal for anyone who needs to prepare FrameMaker to process XML data for a range of purposes.

Prerequisites: Some experience with XML, DTD's or FrameMaker is desirable, but not essential.

FrameMaker training combines lecture, demonstration and hands-on practice. Delegates have ample opportunity to discuss their specific requirements with the trainer.

Accredited FrameMaker training

Armada is an Adobe Authorised Training Centre (AATC), accredited by Adobe to provide FrameMaker training.

Cancellations
