After graduating, Nigel worked in Personnel and Training before moving over to IT. Nigel has now worked in the IT industry for nearly 25 years, first for a large IT organisation where he gained extensive programming, technical authoring, training and project management experience, and then for Armada.
Nigel's main documentation interests are the financial aspects associated with it. This includes the indirect costs associated with producing poor documentation and the way good documentation is self funding.
Nigel delivers regular training courses in core technical writing skills and Plain English, as well as the applications used by technical authors, such as Adobe RoboHelp. Nigel has designed and written much of Armada's training courseware material.
“The purpose of training is to get results quickly. Delegates need to leave the course and the next day be making important contributions in their own environment, using the new skills they have learnt. Ultimately training is all about instant contribution and financial justification. ”
