Training under restriction tiers
Information updated 31st December 2020.
Armada continues to host in-class and live online training courses under local restriction tiers.
Under local restriction tiers, one of the reasons you can leave home for is education/training. This applies to all restriction tiers, including tier 4. Training is specifically listed as an exemption. To read about this, see Tier 4: Stay at Home (scroll down to ‘Education and childcare’).
With all of our courses, you have the option of attending in-person or participating online. We encourage people to participate in our courses online wherever possible. However, if this isn’t possible for any reason, or if online training doesn’t work for you, you can opt to attend in-class.
When you attend training at our centres, our top priority is your health and well-being. We’ve implemented comprehensive cleansing and social distancing measures, so you can feel safe in the knowledge that all necessary precautions have been taken. For details, see Covid-19 measures.
What tiers are Armada’s training centres located in?
As of 20 December, our training centres are in the following tiers:
- Bristol: tier 3.
- Bromsgrove: tier 3.
- Milton Keynes: tier 4.
- Reading: tier 4.
- Sheffield: tier 3.
Can I travel to attend training?
Yes. You can travel for education purposes, irrespective of what tier your home or our centre falls within. To read about this, see
Why are we open?
The vast majority of Armada’s course delegates are:
- people who need to learn a new skill quickly to perform a specific role or function at work, or
- people looking to upskill, to enhance their career prospects and find a new position.
Many of our course delegates are key workers such as NHS staff.
Training for occupational purposes remains a priority for the Government as part of its commitment to keep the economy going.
Can I attend training if I have been furloughed?
If you have been notified you are an employee on furlough, while you are not able to work for your employer, you can undertake training. This does not affect your furloughed status, or your employer’s entitlement to claim through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.
