Who should attend?

This course is ideal for:

  • Architects and building designers.
  • Structural engineers.
  • General users.

If you’re going to be using Revit for Mechanical, Electrical or Plumbing, see Revit MEP Essentials.

Accredited Revit training

Armada is an Autodesk Authorised Training Centre (ATC), and our Revit training courses are accredited by Autodesk.

Revit courses are hosted by Autodesk Certified Instructors, with vast experience of using the application professionally. For details, see Expert trainers.

How will I learn?

Revit training is hands-on and practical.

Our trainers teach the necessary theory then demonstrate techniques step-by-step. You then practice the techniques taught on a computer running Revit.

There is plenty of time to ask questions, and you can take away all the files you create.

Training guide and certificate

Course delegates receive:

  • A highly-practical training guide for Revit Architecture or Revit Structures, depending on the area you want to focus on. You’ll refer to this throughout the course, and it will provide a useful refresher afterwards.
  • An e-certificate confirming successful completion of an accredited Revit training course. This is emailed to delegates directly from Autodesk. Click here to see an example of the certificate you receive.

After course support

Following Revit training, delegates are entitled to 30 days’ email support from their Revit trainer to help with any post-course issues. For further details, see Support.

No prior Revit knowledge is necessary.

Delegates should have a basic understanding of construction techniques.

Experience using a CAD application such as AutoCAD is beneficial, but not essential.

Revit version

Training is based primarily on Revit 2020, running on Windows. It is relevant to all recent versions of Revit.

Our guarantees to you

We want our delegates to go away satisfied.

Our price guarantee is your assurance that you’re getting the best value for money.

Our training guarantee ensures that you learn the concepts and skills you need.

On-request Revit training also available

As well as our scheduled courses, Revit Essentials training is also available on-request, i.e. one-to-one training or a ‘closed’ course for your group, hosted at one of our centres, or your venue.

On-request training can be tailored to take into account any existing knowledge you have, and the work you’re going to be doing in Revit. Please contact us for a quote.

Expert trainers

Expert trainers

Revit courses are hosted by Martin McCann and Stewart Cobb.

Martin McCann

Revit trainer Martin McCann

Martin McCann qualified as an Architect in 1986, and he holds a teaching certificate (further and adult education).

He is a long-established Autodesk Certified Instructor (ACI), a capacity in which he has taught Revit and BIM to thousands of professionals, including Architects, Structural Engineers and Mechanical Engineers, for over 20 years.

Martin has been commissioned by Autodesk on multiple occasions to host sessions for them at locations including New York, Chicago, Moscow, Milan and Munich. He has trained Autodesk’s staff and many other Autodesk Certified Instructors in the use of Revit and BIM, and has operated as a visiting Lecturer at the University of Northumbria and Cambridge School of Art.

Martin is the author of the McCann’s BIM Guides series of published Revit training manuals.

Stewart Cobb

Revit trainer Stewart Cobb

Stewart began his working life as a junior draughtsman, and progressed through to Design Director leading a studio of designers working on both 2D and 3D projects.

He then ‘took the plunge’, and began working for himself. For over 25 years, he completed around 100 design projects per year for a myriad of clients, including household names such as Vauxhall and McDonalds.

Stewart is an expert user of a range of Autodesk applications, including Revit, AutoCAD, 3ds Max and AutoCAD Plant 3D. He also specialises in the production of architectural and product rendered images using tools such as V-Ray.

More recently, Stewart has focused on training. He has been an Autodesk Certified Instructor (ACI) since 2010. In between courses he continues to carry out project work to keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and practices.

Outside of work, Stewart enjoys music (he runs the sound desk for a number of local bands), reading and playing with any new piece of technology he can lay his hands on!

Certification exams

Certification exams

When you attend Revit training at Armada, you’re not assessed. Our courses have been developed to teach you skills you can use in the real world, not pass an exam. Separately, and in addition to our training, you have the option of taking a certification exam that leads to an industry-recognised credential in Revit.

For Revit Architecture, there are two levels of certification which are suitable for users at different stages in their careers: Autodesk Certified User and Autodesk Certified Professional.

For Revit Structure, there is just one level of exam available: Autodesk Certified Professional.

Successful candidates receive:

  • A personalised e-certificate (PDF) from Autodesk confirming their Revit-certified status.
  • An official Autodesk-Certified badge that you can use to market your skills, e.g. on your business cards, in your email signature, on your website, etc.
  • The option of appearing in Autodesk’s publicly-accessible database of certified Revit users.

“The course has proven to be very engaging and relevant, I enjoyed learning the Revit 2017 software.”

Andrew S

“The course was so good it enabled me to give a very successful 1hr long hands on cpd to my office and directors on Revit. Will recommend your courses in future. Martin was very good.”

Robin H

“Martin was a fantastic instructor. Very patient and answered all and any questions we had straight away in an easy to understand dialogue. If you still wasn't sure he was willing to show you multiple times if necessary and even come to your screen (one on one).”

Jamie G

“Just a quick note of thanks, for the Revit Essentials course I attended earlier this week. As you can imagine I have attended many training courses over the years, but I must say I came away from your course, having learnt a great deal more than past courses I have attended with other trainer's, not only was the structure of the course excellent, but your experience and knowledge in the software is of the same excellent standard. Which all in all, made for an excellently delivered training course.”

Tony S

“Many thanks to Martin and yourself for providing Revit training earlier this week. The course was professionally run, very informative with good take home documentation and a top buffet! We will certainly consider yourselves for any CAD training required in the future.”

Steve M

“Martin clearly has expert knowledge and was able to teach us very effectively. His ability to not only to teach us how to use the software but also help us to decide how best to use it within our business made his training very effective and enjoyable.”

Michael B

“Excellent course. Very pleased with the quality of training. Would recommend.”

Kris M

“Great course. Totally different approach to the software; I feel I have gained more knowledge and there is not the same pressure to participate in every aspect of the teaching - observation can be as beneficial as active participation. Many thanks!”

Paul S

“I had a lot of fun learning this brilliant software. The pace of the learning process was ideal and I feel I have come a long way since Wednesday. I have tried learning Autodesk Software on my own using online resources prior to this course but often found myself a little lost. Having a competent professional teaching this particualr software and condensing so much into 3 days was far more effective and certainly worth the price. I shall be reccomending this training facility.”

Robert K

“A former colleague set this training up for those of us who had been made redundant. I found it very informative and it will help me to improve my skills in seeking further work.”

Catherine R

“Very good instructor, knew his stuff and gave a lot more tips on other Autodesk software.”

Paul J

“The instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful. Our organisation will not hesitate to use him again.”

Steven B

“The course was run well and we progressed through the information thoroughly. the tutor was helpful and answered all questions we had.”

Damien W

“Thank you very much for all your help with the course. I very much enjoyed it and found it to be quite an eye opener into the capabilities of the software. The training facilities and venue at Bromsgrove was very well organised and the course was very well implemented. Thank you very much to Martin for his thoroughness and patience in explaining and answering all my questions.”

Luis T

“Enjoyed the content impressed with the instructor.”

Richard C

“The Trainer, Martin was very helpful when teaching the course and ensured he covered all content presented in the Certification exam which i arranged to take on the last day. The training center staff also went above and beyond to ensure I was happy. I would certainly recommend them to any colleagues looking for similar training / examination.”
